People: Robert Gillmor - Wildlife Artist

Robert Gillmor is a British artist, illustrator and founder member of the Society of Wildlife Artists. His most well known work is perhaps the logo for the RSPB. Amongst many accolades, in 2001 he was also awarded the RSPB Medal.

Gillmor's work is visually striking and anatomically accurate. His real talent, beyond the mastery of his materials, is his ability to capture the characteristics of the animal, and the spirit of the place he is representing on paper.

Since 1985, he has had the honour of creating the jacket designs for all of the books in The New Naturalists series, a highly informative and interesting collection of books covering the broad spectrum of the natural world in the British Isles.
